Apple Slashes 4th Quarter iPhone 4S orders

DigiTimes on Wednesday reported that Apple has cut fourth-quarter iPhone 4S parts orders with its suppliers. The report’s anonymous sources claim that some amount of production volume has been moved from the fourth quarter this year to the first quarter in 2012 due to weaker than expected demand and short supply of some key components.

More than 4 million iPhone 4S were sold on the first weekend itself creating new records for iPhone sales. Based on those number Analysts estimated that Apple could sell more then 40 million iPhone 4S in the 4th Quarter of 2011. That number is astronomically high compared to 16 million sold in the same quarter in 2010.

If the report by DigiTimes is to be believed it would be interesting to see how many iPhone 4S are sold in 4th Quarter and if it even comes any where close to the Analysts estimates.
