Google unveils Ice Cream Sandwich

Google took wraps off it latest OS, Ice Cream Sandwich yesterday at an event in Hong Kong. Samsung Galaxy Nexus is going to be the first phone to sport Ice Cream Sandwich OS (Android 4.0). Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 4.0 is aimed to bridge the gap between Android Phone OS (Gingerbread) and Android Tablet OS (Honeycomb).

Some of the feature additions in Ice Cream Sandwich are:

  • Face Unlock - With Face Unlock you can now unlock your phone with a smile and no complicated passwords are required to unlock your phone.
  • Android Beam - With NFC enabled phones, like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus you can simply transfer files, photos, music, etc by holding phones close to each other.
  • Enhanced Voice typing - Watch text appear instantaneously as you speak with voice input
  • Google+ - Even though Google+ is currently available to download with Ice Cream Sandwich it is going to be built in with better integration.
  • Camera - Improved camera interface with the ability to take panoramic pictures.
